AI Engineer

  • 40 hours / week
  • Remote in Romania

You build reliable backend systems and want to take the next step into AI. Join us to integrate AI services into existing IT environments and develop cloud-based components for customer solutions.

You live in or near Brașov. An office with a hybrid setup is planned for the future.

What you’ll work on

  • Design and implement RAG systems through context engineering.
  • Develop MCP components and data integrations.
  • Build AI agents, workflows and prompts.
  • Develop cloud-based backend components and occasionally contribute frontends for human-in-the-loop processes.

What you bring

  • At least seven years of professional backend experience, ideally with REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • Strong skills in TypeScript, Python or .NET / C#.
  • Experience developing and operating enterprise applications, for example in banking, insurance or manufacturing.
  • Solid knowledge of relational or NoSQL databases, including data modelling and query optimisation basics.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS or GCP and cloud-native services.
  • Practical experience with Docker, Git, code reviews, CI/CD and testing.
  • A pragmatic approach, strong problem-solving skills and ownership from design to production.
  • Motivation to work with AI, machine learning and LLMs; you do not need to be an AI expert yet.
  • Good written and spoken English.

Nice to have

  • Graph and vector databases, and MCP development.
  • FastAPI, FastMCP, Agno, LangChain or LangGraph.
  • Apache AGE, pgvector or Neo4j.

Working Student — AI / Software Engineering (all genders)

Put what you learn at university to work on real AI and software projects. Contribute to internal products and customer solutions, from early prototypes to production-oriented applications.

Your workplace is at Fraunhoferstraße 22, 82152 Planegg. Hybrid working is available.

What you’ll work on

  • Develop backend and frontend components for internal products and customer solutions.
  • Help build AI workflows, RAG systems and automations.
  • Integrate APIs, tools and data sources.
  • Contribute to prototypes, MVPs and production-oriented solutions.
  • Test, debug and write technical documentation.
  • Evaluate new technologies and tools.

What you bring

  • Current enrolment in computer science, business informatics, software engineering or a related subject.
  • Initial practical experience in software development.
  • Interest in AI, LLMs, automation and modern software architectures.
  • Solid JavaScript / TypeScript skills; ideally Node.js too.
  • Experience with Git, APIs and web technologies.
  • A structured, independent and pragmatic way of working.
  • Very good German and English.

Nice to have

  • React, Next.js or similar frameworks.
  • Python, RAG, vector databases or MCP and tool integrations.
  • Interest in cloud, DevOps or CI/CD.
  • Test automation or data integration.
